    Hi,
I'm a newby to android phones, so please don't be too hard on me.

I have a Galaxy W and found that the manual is pretty light on information.

Does anybody know what the "M" in the top left of the screen means?

It appeared after my first visit to the android market place.

    Any help would be appreciated.

(Also if you have a full list of the icons it would be cool...)

Welcome. The M means there is a Market app update. So one of your apps has an update. Other notifications could be 3G.

    Hi,
Many thanks, I guess the next question is expected..

    What do I do..?

I'm not sure how to find out which app it is referring to.. Unless I of course delete the two apps I installed...

One was angry birds (how embarassing) and the other was iPlayer...

I've loaded each app hoping it will request an update, but both applications provided no indication they needed to be updated.

What is the best way of finding out..?

Hi, have just figured out how to update apps and unfortunately it doesn't state an update is required.

Should I just go ahead and perform my first phone reset..?

Pull down the notification bar (the black bar at the top that has the icon). Basically for any notification, you pull that down to see what each icon means, then tap the entry. It will open up the market app and show which apps you want to update with the option to update as well.

Same goes for messages. When you are anywhere on the phone, pull down the notification bar and tap the notification. It will open the message straight up. Goes for all notifications and icons there.

Thanks very much that was very useful and now I feel really bad...!!!

I've even removed the hotmail account I configured and the applications I installed.

So then.. Do I get a prize... :)

I'll wear the special cone hat until next time...
