This isn't the same issue I've read on other threads (black thumbnail with lightning bolt) but some images in my gallery are turning black. I cannot view whatever the image was, but the size also reduces to 10kb. I know a picture existed where now it is black.

Nothing I can find is helping and I just need to know other people are experiencing the same issue.

    Galaxy S3, running 4.3

Anything can happen to an S3 that got the 4.3 update, but 'm guessing that the picture itself got deleted somehow.

I'd like to share an image but can't figure out how to do some from my device to this thread.

Thank you both for your replies.

Tried downloading a different gallery app, but images are still just black.

Also this issue was present prior to 4.3 upgrade.

Use the My Files app (I think that's the file manager installed on Samsung devices) and check that the original images are still present.

If they are, try going to Settings/Apps/All, selecting Gallery and clearing its cache. When you restart the handset the thumbnails will be rebuilt, hopefully fixing the issue.

you can also try using the file browser any one i use root explorer (costs but theres a free version also) and find the dcim folder in there is a folder called thumbnails delete this folder and the gallery will re load all the thumbnails upon reboot.
