    Hi everyone!

Right now Climbwalls Software is giving away 10 free Kingdom Forge apps to special fans.

Kingdom Forge is similar to a board game like Risk and Chess and fantasy, all rolled together.

Though we all love a good shoot-em-up, intense graphics game. Kingdom Forge is not meant to fill that space. Instead, it IS a very fun, turn-based strategy game that is rich in features, and requires some thinking.

We have almost 1000 fans of Kingdom Forge, but few are posting their thoughts. This promotion is meant to reward those fans that have REALLY enjoyed the LITE version and would love the FULL version.

For info on how to be one of the 10 winners or future winners, visit our site for Kingdom Forge
The promotion details are in the middle of the page.

PLEASE follow the directions EXACTLY to receive the FULL version. For instance, if you follow all the steps except you don't email us, we won't know who to reward :)

    Enjoy,
    ClimbWalls Software

Honestly... requiring people to leave a 5 star rating in order to enter leaves a very bad aftertaste. It smells of "we know we don't deserve it, so we're going to buy that 5-star rating of yours."

    hansschmucker,

Thank you for your comment. I can understand that. That is why we are specific to mention that this special is for users that would have rated it 5 stars anyway. It is simply an incentive to help those playing the game to take the time to leave their feedback (though good feedback is always the best).

Through emails we have actually had a very positive response to this special.

But you see why it looks so bad. Do you really think you would fare that much worse without requiring people to give a five star rating? Ask them to give honest feedback, not withstanding constructive criticism and you have users that well, are proud to be your customers and continue to support you instead of drones that will do anything for a buck and the loyalty of your average sponge.

I don't know. I have never had a sponge that has defected to another sink. :p

I have to agree, though. It does look bad. And even less than 5 star ratings can be good, in some sense. Like a 4 star rating with some constructive criticism might be better than 5 star rating that just says "awesome game!" But, I'm not a developer, so my opinion may be misguided in that sense.

    hansschmucker,

Once more, your thoughts make sense. Unfortunately, "constructive criticism" is a rare thing on the android market. We see comments like "Game sucks" and "Just crap" all over the market. Here is what we have found: Those users that give 1-2 star ratings generally uninstall the app. These users don't want it, AND would not use the app even if it was free. I just doesn't suit them. It would be a complete waste to give such an individual the game for free when there are others who would actually appreciate and enjoy the full version.

I wish we could differentiate between everyone's honesty level, but we just can't. We feel this promotion is an excellent one and hope that the biggest fans win out in the end.

I think his comment in itself was intended as constructive criticism on the method :) I think he meant even allow for a 4 star rating if they happen to put some additional comments on the game that might help bring that to a 5 in that person. I myself have put 4 stars down and really enjoyed the app. Yours for example, I have played the lite version...albeit for about 30 minutes total, and currently would give it a 4 with the limited amount of time I have spent with it...but I think its a solid concept that might benefit from some improvements here and there :) And maybe the full version has some things done differently, and I have yet to think of certain things that might help the game, but I will likely continue playing the game because I find it entertaining so far. I tend to like turn based strategy games in general, so I hope to bring some ideas to the table that could benefit!

EDIT: Posted at the same time: Zigram, that's exactly what I meant.
EDIT2: And feel free to call me "Hans". "Schmucker" is simply my family name. :)

*smile* Yes, I came up empty trying to think of anything that's inherently disloyal, so I just inserted a random word :)

ClimbWalls, there are definitely people who don't know the meaning of "Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt". But in the end you're rewarding these people if you ask for a 5-star rating in exchange for the game... because these people usually will sell out to anybody.

Why not ask people to help you? In my younger years, before I got a credit card, I often helped out doing translations, graphics and so on in exchange for the game. Now, I know that would be a bit much to ask these days (the price of software has gone down quite a bit since then), but how about: "Leave a comment telling us which of the first X levels you liked best and why." That would automatically disqualify all those "U SUCK" people and you might get some valuable knowledge as well.

Besides, the Android Market may seem like a chaotic place these days, but if I've learned anything from the little time spent with some of the Google folks, than it's that they're not as naive as everybody thinks: A huge percentage of extremes will raise all kinds of flags.

ClimbWalls, I love your game! I must admit that I like free things. I go to amazon every morning just to see what free app they have. However, I only take the free games I like. I pass by many Apps because I would never use them. For that reason I think your promotion is a great idea. I am definitely one of those who would have 'appreciated it'. I just wish I found your promo before I bought the game a week ago.:-(
ps. I gave both lite and full versions 5 stars.
