Greetings,
This is my first post on this forum. I represent a team of mobile game/app developers called Phi-line. We are currently working on a game called Walpie which will eventually be adopted for iPhone.
I'm sorry that I'm unable to post any links and images (being a new user, at least it says so in red letters below), but you can google Kickstarter Walpie if you wish to find out more and support us. There are some screenshots there.
The game is all about a character named Walpie who is a cat that lives inside your smartphone. If you take him for a walk (by actually going outside and walking with the app turned on) you get points and advance in the game. But it's not that simple; there are a number of factors that affect your success, such as the gloss of his fur, and his general mood for going out.
The game utilizes the phone's GPS system in order to track your movement and speed. If you ride a bike, or travel in a car, Walpie will fall out of your phone, because he can't keep up. That means your app is going to be empty, unless you return to that actual GPS location (with a certain tolerance) in which case he will automatically hop back into your phone.
The philosophy of the game is to get people to go outside, relax a bit, and take a nice healthy walk. The game doesn't require your constant attention. You can activate the walking feature, put the phone in your pocket and just enjoy a nice day.
The pinnacle of the development of this game will be a worldwide system of tracking (only in real-time without permanent storage) the movement of all Walpie users, which will enable each user to find someone else in their vicinity to walk together with. This could lead to interesting social situations in which you have to guess which of the people on the other side of the street have Walpie active in their pocket if you wish to approach them and meet them. Obviously it's not for the shy. There will be in-game benefits for those who meet this way and walk together.
This part of the game will try to connect people in this unusual way, and hopefully lead to new friendships.
Right now, we are starting a Kickstarter campaign to raise enough money for a full time engagement with this project in order to finish it, first for Android, then with additional funds for iPhone. Setting up the worldwide tracking system will require additional funds.
All of these goals are described on our Kickstarter page.
If you like the idea behind the project, feel free to back it. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
