So everyone is talking about the processor for gaming on the Epic. Question is... what games are you playing?

The processor is huge for gaming AND high def movies :) But as far as gaming goes... there aren't many that push the hardware simply because the Galaxy S\Droid X phones are the first with a GPU worthy of playing crazy games.

However... if you really wanna see a smooth framerate on some 3D games...

    Dungeon Hunter (my favorite RPG)
Toonwarz (pretty much unplayable on my EVO, perfect on the Epic)
    Raging Thunder
    Asphalt 5

I'd also mention the playstation emulator, but at present it doesn't use hardware acceleration... which sucks.

How much space does this need? I tried installing with 120 MB free and it said I didn't have enough space...

Probably a stupid question, but where do I get games that aren't on the market? Like 'Dungeon Hunter' - this looks fun as hell, but I don't see it on the market, where do I go?

Yeah, total Droid newb, it is what it is.

head over to gameloft.com. If you do it on your phone, you can download a demo from there.

First attempt at gaming on Android... complete failure. I installed Dungeon Hunter, but it freezes about half way through the update of the game once I'm in the game itself.

I uninstalled, deleted all files, and even re-downloaded and installed it again - same issue.

Is there a way to manually update the game maybe? Any good site for someone with no Android gaming experience to go for info on this? Honestly, I had less trouble installing an NES emulator than I'm having installing an actual for-sale game :(

Same problem with the same game. I tried wifi and 3g.

The other game loft games seem to work fine.

Huh. I just bought Dungeon Hunter today and the download finished fine a few hours ago.

From what I understand, Gameloft started making these games on the iPhone app store first, but they didn't really take a liking to android. That's why they aren't using the market and are making us download them from their store. Results may vary.... but I did get the game to install just fine. I have a pretty fast wifi connection but I don't know if that helps.

EDIT: So I took the game for a spin... and I was surprised by how poorly it ran. The framerate was very smooth, but the game froze every 5-10 seconds. Usually when enemies appeared. The jumpiness made the overall experience pretty bad. The game actaully runs smoother on my iPod Touch 2G.

I wonder if the game just isn't optimized for this phone. I'll try more gameloft games tonight and see.

Well, good to know I'm not alone. They have some cool looking games, but man was I pumped for that one. I love Diablo-style RPGs! I'll check their support I guess, maybe they've got a fix in the works :(

In regards to Dungeon Hunter (any of their games) they're real good about emailing you back a link to a different download that works for the demo.
