Given how much has been modded/hackable in the past does it seem likely the Garmin Fenix GPS watch with BLE will be made to communicate and allow notifications from Android phone? The Fenix currently pairs and is compatible with the iPhone. Garmin's position is (paraphrasing) there are too many versions/models of Android. On the later model Android phones is an app all that is needed? It was known going in that there was no support for Android. The watch's features are outstanding as a stand alone watch. It would be "over the top" if someday it would allow for Android notifications.

Now I wonder if that's strictly true, or possibly there's an exclusivity agreement between Garmin and Apple? Like there is with the Nike Fuelband, that only be used with iOS devices.

And if any third-parties dare try to reverse engineer and hack the thing...They're slapped with a cease and desist notice.

"Dec 3rd 2012 - Received "cease and desist" from Nike Inc., such a shame they didn't join the party, I bet we could have increased their sales in the long run. Oh well, Big Corp thinking FTF!"

A Time to Speculate and Opinionate :D

Not looking for a solution as much as attempting to tap into the fast reserve of knowledge and wisdom the internet has created in the unification of us mere mortals to glimpse the future based on past accomplishments (0_0). Seriously, it does seem a bit odd that a watch as powerful and popular as it seems to be has not been whipped into shape and brought to it full potential like displaying Android phone notifications making use of a loud alarm and a great vibration motor.

I have thought of this in the past in regards to Apple. It would seem the market would drive bad behavior (rotten to the core) out of the system. Of course I also believe our gold is still in Fort Knox. I guess I am just naive; crap.

I do wonder what exactly Garmin is actually doing. They could make an Android app, if supporting plethora of Android devices is problem, they could say chose to only support, for example Samsung devices.

With Nike and their tech products, the exclusivity, lock-in or kickback agreement with Apple is kind of obvious.

And they do jealously defend it against any infringers or hackers.

    LOL:rolleyes:

A hundred years from now a war will be fought. There will be two sides. Apple and Nike vs Android and Adidas.
