Ok so I still consider my self a huge noob.

Ok so what happened is my DX was running kinda slow and really lagging. I was running the new GB 596 with the BWC theme on top but I wanted to switch to the new Apex but I wanted to start new so I went into Droid 2 bootloader and did a factory reset. I mean reset to factory what could go wrong. EVERYTHING!!! I went into a constant bootloop. I was so mad. I didnt (still dont)know what I did wrong. After multiple battery pulls and more factory resets I was frustrated to the point that I started downloading stuff for the SBF. AHHH I really didnt want to SBF again so I got the idea of just restore my last backup so I did it and perfect. Back to GB 595. My phone is back alive. :D

Ok so I told my story by rambling but hopefully you got the picture. I do have a couple of questions though.

    1. What should I have done if I wanted to start fresh.

    2. Did I mess anything up with restoring the backup GB595.

    3. Does my battery charge if I am in a bootloop because my battery was down to 40% so I couldnt have done the SBF anyways.

Thank you for your time guys. You guys are the best!!

    Josh:)

What you should have done to start fresh is SB'ed back to Froyo using the new (sorta new) Linux method. Then proceeded to root with z4root and installed droid 2 bootstrap. From there you would download the two file Gingerbread files (contains the updated baseband) and flashed them both in clockwork recovery (stay in recovery for both files).

After flashing 596 do a data wipe/factory reset because you will bootloop so just get it out of the way. Then download Bouchigo's BWC theme for 596 along with his deodexer file. Flash the deodexer file and reboot. Boot back into clockwork recovery and flash the BWC theme, clear cache and reboot.

And no your battery does not charge if you are bootlooping. At that point its running off the battery. For your battery to charge you would have to have the phone off. You should always wipe data/factory reset before and after flashing a new rom or theme.

You didn't mess anything up by restoring. All you did was revert back to 595. Here are the links for the Linux SBF and the two GB files,

If you want to start out fresh this is the way to go. And if your battery isn't fully charged, get it charged before you start. If you want to try out Apex don't flash the BWC theme. It's not made for Apex. You will have to flash a theme made for Apex.

Keep in mind Apex is not complete yet. It's at the RC1 stage right now. Here is the direct link if you need it,

    [ROM] ApeX V2.0.0 Release Candidate (RC1) (6/6/2011)

If you flash Apex and have any trouble with it report your problems to Fab. Also get yourself up and running on the fresh install of 596 and create a backup BEFORE you flash Apex so if you don't like it or have problems running it you can go back.

You can't factory reset after flashing a theme. Resetting will put you back to stock GB. So you just flashed your theme just to wipe it back out with the reset. You must have missed a step. The hanging on the droid guy happened to me too the last time I sbf'ed and its because the sbf didn't take right. You will have to do it again. Don't skip or miss and steps. Come back here and read the post to guide you if need be.

Don't factory reset after you flash your theme. Clear you cache but do not data wipe/factory reset.

An easy fix to these goofy issues, instead of sbf, you can always install a revert to stock / deodex zip of the build your running. 596..., then while still in bootstrap, in the advanced option, wipe dalvic cache
