Help getting data off of broken Evo

I searched a good amount for this question but haven't seen it yet, so here goes:

My Evo 4G died a week ago. (It got waterlogged, I took all the recommended precautions to fix it, let it sit a few days in rice etc... and still won't turn on.)

The texts and phone call history are stored on the phone's internal memory so I can't get it off the SD card, but is there any way to recover it? Or is that memory essentially annihilated if the phone's dead?

Unless you had some kind of text message backup app, its as good as gone. Maybe HTC would be able to recover it for you but i'm sure it wouldn't be cheap.

So you don't think general data recovery services would be able to pull it off?
