Getting emails immediately

When I go to my email settings on my Galaxy 5 under Sync schedule I have Peak schedule and non-peak schedule. I have the following options in both: Push, Manual, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 12 hours. What does Push mean and what should I check to get emails the fastest?

Push is for IMAP setups, and it means that as soon as the server has email for you, it gets pushed to the phone. That's the fastest (and uses the most battery),
