Getting latest firmware updates for my Vodafone Hero

    if your already running 2.73.*.* then that is the latest firmware, the last numbers on firmware are for carriers as in t-mob,3,orange. thats also why you cant download the version for the 3 network.

    Ah I getcha. Thanks for the reply. I don't suppose you know how much different the firmware upgrades make? Is it just bug fixes, or have they actually helped the performance?

    bit of both matey, fixed bugs for sms not coming through and made the phone a lot smoother. there was a few other things but i cant remember what they were lol

    You're actually golden - 2.73.405.66 is the latest current generic HTC release (generic = unbranded). I wouldn't feel too jealous about the 3 build - they're just catching up with the rest of us. ;)

    Well thanks @Slug. That's good to know! I really am so impressed with Android I've convinced my wife to get one. I'll be back on androidforums too. It's nice in here!

    I've just checked the build number of my sim free/unbranded hero:

    2.73.405.5 146733 CL...(and some stuff)

    Does that mean I'm not actually on the latest rom??

    Edit: oh nevermind, actually read the thread correctly. all good :)

    the firmware update makes the sense UI generally faster, worth it
