So I have a iPhone 3GS right now and i'm making my switch over to Android by getting the HTC EVO 4G on Sprint this Friday. I had a few questions about Android and general usability before I switch over. I'll probably think of more questions later, but help in the mean time would be appreciated.

    1. I like having all my music in my phone and I have been researching ways to get my iTunes onto Android and the only viable solution I have seen is a program called Nutsie. Basically it's a program that uploads your entire iTunes library to a cloud and you can access it from anywhere using the phone and the $10 app (nuTsie's Android Applications page. - nuTsie.com) and you don't have to store the music on the phone but you can download it onto the phone the songs you want from your playlist too I believe... I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience with this program and if it works good. And also, if there are any good music players out there that anyone likes then please let me know.

    2. My friend has had a Droid since the day it released, and he has told me that Android does not have push email and that I will miss that migrating from iPhone. That made no sense to me... you would think that with today's phones, especially smart phones that that would be a standard feature. Perhaps he's mistaken? The way I have my email set up on my iPhone is I have 3 email accounts that are each setup to retrieve emails every hour... is there something in Android, or perhaps a app that can do this? I have a Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail account.

    Hello hello!

    1. Wouldn't it be easier to just open the file you have your music in and the SD card file on the phone and just drag and drop? I do that with my Incredible and it works really well. I like using the stock HTC Sense music player because it's really well done. The widget is very nice and clean-looking too!

    2. I'm not really sure what he means by it not having a push notification. The EVO 4G DEFINITELY has a push notification for email. Whenever I get a new email, I get a notification in the top bar. I can easily just pull it down and click on it from there. It's much easier than having something pop up and take up your screen.

You can drag and drop like Vihzel said, but there's a program called iTunes agent which can be used to automatically sync selected playlsits (or all of your music) to any location (such as the music folder on your SD card). It's free too.

The built in gmail app uses push email; sometimes my phone tells me even before my PC does. There's also an app called K9 Mail which will handle non-gmail accounts and supports push (assuming your yahoo and hotmail accounts support it too).

Thanks for the answers. The only other question I have right now is if there is any way to put Apps in folders. I have played with my buddy's Droid and he slides his finger up to unveil an ungodly number of apps one after another (among system tools and settings too which makes no sense). I'm also a current iPhone 3GS user, and it'll be getting folders in the summer in a update but right now I just have different pages set up for different things like Games, productivity, tools... But since i'll be switching to Android for the first time, I wanted to know if there is any form of organization possible for the apps? Or is there maybe a folder you can put on the desktop (where you put widgets) that has different apps in it?

Maybe make a "Games" folder, and then when you select it, if goes to games that you have picked to go in that folder.

    Thanks again.

Yeah, you can do this with a free app called Apps Organiser from the market. It's a pretty handy app :)

I believe stock android can do this without installing a new app, but apps organiser is much more customisable.

Coming from the world of Blackberry, I am missing the push mail myself... the solution for me, at least for now, was setting my other email accounts to forward a copy to my gmail account... problem is that its not always that fast... with Blackberry, it was pretty much instantaneous for all of my emails... four different email accounts and they were from all kinds of different providers, so... anyway, looking for a true solution myself.

    Later!

    1. Download doubletwist on your computer. It syncs all your music from iTunes. Its free and works great.

    2. My Nexus One pushs email so should every android phone. I'm pretty sure it pushes emails.

My desire has push email. It checks every 15 minutes or every time I click the mail icon if sooner.

If your email is being pushed, it gets sent/pushed to the phone as soon as it hits your inbox.

Your phone doesn't have to check every few minutes that way.
