If you're talking about the rom, not everyone wants to use that. :)

If loading the above file, it's my belief there are 2 ways to proceed:

1.) If your SD card is already formatted to FAT32, rename to update.zip, place on root of SD card, power off phone, goto hboot and it should be autorecognized.

2.) If your SD card is NOT formatted to FAT32 and you don't feel like jacking with it, go to hboot, then highlight recovery and press power button. Should see a ! inside of a triangle. Now hold volume UP while pressing power button to get a list of stock recovery options. One should be to apply sd card: update.zip. Make sure the file is on the root of the card and not in any folder. Also for any noobs, do NOT unzip this file. Leave it as is when you download it, other than renaming to update.zip. And one final note, you may just need to rename it to update, as the .zip extention will be automatically added by Windows. Depends on which version of Windows you're using and how you have file extentions set up. Bottom line, use Astro or a similar file manager app to browse your sd card once the file is there and make sure you don't accidentally have a file named update.zip.zip. That's the side effect of adding the extention on a computer that doesn't require it and the load will fail in that event.

Our stock recovery may look slightly different, but you should be seeing someting similar to this:

Yeah, I know this will be useful for others as mine wasn't formatted FAT32 and I don't feel like jacking with it. I spent a moment scratching my head before I myself realized vol up + power (got stuck before when dealing with flashing rom....lol). :) Flashing as we speak.

Here is the date trick for anyone who would like to try it

(I turned offalarms and email ... basically the things thatwere set on a timer to check but thatmight have been overkill)

Turnon Wifi (mightwork without, but I dont know)
change date to Sept30 or Oct3 (menu>settings>date and time >(unclick automatic) then change date)
    turn offphone
    turn on
go to dialer and dial * #* #2432546#* #* (this is "checkin")
when itsays checkin successful, go to menu>settings>about phone>check for updates

Good luck. Try it 3-5 times. Let us know.if it works.

Hello everyone, i don't post much but i lurk a lot. I've grown impatient waiting for the update and wanted to try downloading it without rooting my phone. Anyway. i have a problem. i've gotten to that screen which looks very similar but when i selected the update, it said it couldn't complete. I'm not sure if "the file is on the root of the card and not in any folder". i just downloaded it, checked astro and renamed the file. I didn't move it anywhere or did anything other than renamed it. Am i doing this right?

Also FramCire, i tried but no luck from me.

Where did file save? It can't be in any folder in sd card, rather it must be on sd card but root in this case means /sdcard/update.zip. Did that make any sense?

I just downloaded the file. I went to Astro file manager, download folder and found the file. I long pressed it and hit edit, rename. I renamed it update.zip Then,I long pressed it again and hit edit, move. I moved it out of folder "download" up a directory to the root of SD card. Then I powered off. Then I pressed volume down and power button to get to HBOOT. Then down volume to select recovery. Then it did its thing. It took about 15 minutes to update and reboot twice. Good luck. I hope this helped.

Yes and no. It IS the official update, but it is hosted on a different site, and released by different people. And verizon wouldn't tell you to do install it this way. But it is the official update, tested and approved by verizon.

Got the OTA update last week.
    Installed without a hitch.

Starting three days ago, I am having sudden, random reboots of the phone.
Prior to the OTA, I had not had an uncommanded reboot in months.

Any one else having this issue?

ok, my phone just updated. I know gingerbread is actually a minor update but can someone tell me any differences from froyo to GB on the incredible. I've actually tried fast boot and from the white htc screen to lock screen is 5-6 sec. for me.

Just tried this a few times with no luck. It kept aborting the installation; something about wrong signatures maybe.

Just to clarify, I have ClockworkMod Recovery on my phone, which is trying to install the update with no luck.
