Desire and Gingerbread Update | Facebook
I've been waiting for this update for a while and when its released its for developers? I don't know if its worth attempting now
Gingerbread roots safe as houses.
What do you mean?
The official 2.3 ruu is for developers only so HTC say and some apps will be lost.If you root your Desire there is no way you will loose anything from your phone.
Ah ok. I thought you were saying the "release" was rootable.
So, okay. What....?
I am not sure what they are saying - are they saying 2:3 is ONLY going to be a specific download aimed at developers and it will not be pushed out OTA as a normal update?
If so, I have not rooted my phone all this time to ensure that it is stock and can receive official updates, when now it will be stuck on 2:2 unless I root?
Scratch that, I just found this thread:
Lots of users have had successful implementations of Gingerbread on Desire (non rooted). See for example this CNET forum:

A Step by step how to install is here...and elsewhere:

Desire was not officially released in NZ and my phone was imported from Hong Kong but also seems to have Vietnamese / Singapore English language packs. I am with Vodafone in NZ.
I am a bit uncertain whether it is safe to do the upgrade!
Thanks for any and all comments.
What's the software version?
My text will not send after update. Type out text hit send does not send. Anyone else having this problem? Can anyone help? htc inspire
Inspire? This is about the desire. Have you tried the inspire forum?

I wish to update to the Official HTC Gingerbread and have done quite a bit of research on it.
