Has anyone tried this out yet? I read in the comment sections of a few Android blog websites that they were having issues using this on their Sprint HTC Hero rooted with Android 2.2.

This new keyboard looks great. I will definitely give it a try if it works for our handsets.

I have not but have followed the thread over @ XDA and they are having no issues with it, if you have issues you can always uninstall, I am using Swift Key and love that keyboard but does have a little lag to it versus the stock one that comes with AOSP ;)

Well, DonB, coming from a stock Android 2.1 with Sense UI keyboard will probably make the AOSP Android 2.2 stock keyboard feel like it has turbochargers on it. Though, I have to say, I do like the HTC keyboard a lot, just not the lag that goes with it.

I tried getting used to Swype, but it did not work. I might give it a go again some day.

Okay, so what are the advantages of Swiftkey? I think I have heard of that, but never saw it in practice.

Like I said above, I really liked the stock HTC keyboard, but I just want something that does not lag like crazy. I like being able to hold down the key to get a symbol or number.

    Haha! Thanks for the video.

The best part was when he said "oops, I did not mean to spell ass" and just erases it. Awesome!

Hey DonB, when you flash to different recovery images are you just using the Terminal Emulator app for that too? It seems like a better idea than reinstalling ROM Manager each time to flash back and forth between recovery images.

I should finally have some time this weekend to get Amon RA recovery on my Sprint HTC Hero. I will keep you posted about it.

Android keyboard 2.3 is cool. It's def better than 2.2 but it had a lot more lag on The Hero. I ended up going back to my nandroid before and download Swiftkey because of a poster above...I am really liking it so far. Thanks for that. But yah, Android keyboard is cool, but a little laggy on The Hero.

I bet it does not even approach the lag that is present in the keyboard in the stock Android 2.1 with Sense. I have mostly adapted to it though.

I think I will definitely give SwiftKey a try after I try out the Android 2.3 keyboard. If all else fails, I can always return to stock.
