Help Gingerbread Push Deleted my Apps!

I don't know all the official lingo and so if you can help me, please try to put it in layman's terms. I got the Gingerbread roll out last night. I guess it this is an OTA? (what does that stand for?) Anyway, after it updated my system, half my apps were gone and half the ones that are left, don't work. Someone told me I would have to do a factory reset and re-download all my apps. But will I have to pay for my apps again? And is there a better way to deal with this issue? I really have no idea what to do....

As long as you put the same account in the phone after the reset then you will not have to pay for the apps again.
After an update the best thing to do is a factory reset anyway so maybe consider this a blessing in disguise that you have to do it now rather than later.

This happened to me too. In my case, it's the apps that were moved to my SD card. This is not good as everything was working fine before the push. There are a couple other threads on this so we're not alone.

My phone just did an automatic reboot and now all my SD card apps are back. They might have pushed a silent fix for this issue.

I'd unmounted/mounted it a few times. I connected the phone to my charger. A couple minutes later it rebooted and all is well.
