It will be released around summertime but i think it will be for unbranded phones only.

Here's the official announcement from SE

Update on Xperia? X10 | Product Launch Blog

Looks like it's just the non-network branded phones that will get the update, which isn't a surprise considering the time and expense the networks would have to invest in developing the ROM.

Don't get your hopes to high.

I won't believe it until I see it. I have very little trust in Sony Ericsson right now.

Once I see a working 8.0 megapixel camera on the x10 running 2.3....then I will believe it.

Glad to see they are going to 2.3.3, I hope it is release before or around the time they predict.

I tend to agree. SE kinda lost their way with Android and got left behind. The software never lived up to the hardware and people felt let down by the lack of updates - quite rightly too.

But I feel positive about the future. SE know perfectly well that they failed, and seem to be making some good decisions lately to make up for lost time. The new Xperia handsets are excellent for the mainstream users and also for people who want to root.

I think the decision to put Gingerbread on the X10 is part of SE's new direction - an offering to the early adopters who they let down, and a good move in my opinion. I understand your scepticism though, past mistakes will take a while to put right.

Haha! I know the feeling! I think my Desire would set itself on fire if I took it anywhere near an Orange ROM.... :D
