Gotta tell u guys, not seeing the big deal with this update. Doesn't seem to be any faster and seems to be killing my battery. I also can't get the led to work for Kik and a feature I loved, put the phone on its face to silence a call, doesn't seem to be there anymore. Can't get the latest version of netflix to download either. Anybody else having issues like these?

If you are having troubles with your battery, download an app called battery calibration I think from the market.

It replaces the battery system file to match your personal batteries capacities.

Download the app, charge your phone fully, then run the app.

Must be rooted of course, so download gingerbreak here: Download GingerBreak App, Easy Rooting for Gingerbread Android user

    Hope this helps.

Once you take the OTA the only way to root is to SBF back to froyo and do the 2 part install of pre-rooted OTA. Currently.

OP I would give it some time to adjust. Most of us that have been on the leaks can only sing praises about GB when compared to froyo.

Thanks guys, but don't think i'm gonna root yet. As far as the put phone on its face to silence (sorry forget what its called) am I nuts or is it gone. I loved that feature because the other person didn't know you rejected the call lol.

Been goofing around with the phone alot of the day, but I could go much longer before. By the way I have the extended battery. Should I kill it and fully charge it a few times?

I noticed, too, my battery seems to be draining MUCH faster than before. I did the update today at around 10 a.m. and my battery was at 30% before 5:00. I also have the extended battery.

I would definitely kill, fully charge, kill fully charge a few times.

It might be reading your extended battery as a stock battery, so what will happen isn't that your battery is dying faster, the phones just reading it wrong.

So you might go down really fast, but then you might be at like 1% for an hour or two or something like that. Just kill it all the way and recharge fully before you unplug and you should be fine.

Thanks gonna give that a shot. Also noticed that my memory is almost always below 100mb. Used to average 150ish.

forget this...doesn't matter...Android is not designed like Windows...free memory is not nearly as important

Yeah its just reminding me of my old blackberries and the memory leaks lol. On a serious note though, doesn't that imply a lack of efficiency with gingerbread?

I wondered if I was the only one with a less than impressive battery life on Gingerbread. I have the extended battery and I used to get 1 1/2 to 2 days out of it.....now I'm dying after 1 day

i'm not sure how the phone can "read the battery wrong." how does that work?

mine is down more than on a usual day, but it also spent 45 minutes downloading the update, locking up, and rebooting. so i'll know more tomorrow about what GB does to battery life.

Well that's assuming that's actually what it's doing. Are you all that are having issues actually having your phones DIE or are you getting down to like 10% really quickly and then plugging them in?

Let me summarize, although some of this may be inaccurate as Im not a phone guru.

What MIGHT have happened, was that when you updated to GB, your battery stats were reset. Your phones uses these to assume how much juice you have. This would make it assume you have a stock battery in. So If it thinks it has a 1300MAH battery in, after it uses X amount of juice it's going to report you have X% left. when in reality you have more % left.

Your phone needs to "learn" how long it can operate on your battery before you start getting accurate readings.

I like to liken it to loading bars. A loading bar is just a visual representation and in reality it doesn't mean much of anything. You might load to 99% in 30 seconds, then sit for that 1% more for 30 minutes. After I undervolted and underclocked my fascinate, my battery would drop as normal, but then I would get down to 1% and be there for like an hour and then go down to 0% and be there for 30 minutes.

Let your phone die COMPLETELY a few times and fully charge a few times. If that doesn't help with how your phone is reading out your battery, then there are other issues, I'm just pointing out a possibility.

nope, not in the least bit...this is an OS built around multitasking...apps should only close as it is necessary...the more apps held in memory, the quicker it will be to switch back and forth between those apps...

Just found a new issue. Anyone have some calls going directly to Voicemail? And my friggin leds aren't working again... If I do a factory reset and load my launcherpro backup will that restore my setup?
