What do you guys think? 4G capable for the Droid Pro? Or will they just make it have a 3G radio when their LTE network is being released the same month...

would make sense to make it 4G but will it be ready in time? If anyone can do it, Motorola has the technology.

  2. From what I read, it is not an LTE phone, but rather CDMA/GSM capable. (Basically a CDMA phone with a SIM slot)

I don't think we'll start seeing LTE phones until the beginning of next year.

Gotcha, I think I would have to pass on it if it doesn't have a 4G capable radio because 4G phones will for sure be out soon after if it doesn't have one.

It's not expected to be 4g as of now... but who knows, I know if I was Verizon, I would be doing everything to capitalize the holiday season with the release of a 4g capable phone. I guess we will just have to wait for some more solid info

Hell, id be surprised if you actually got 3g in some places. I just got back from ireland not long ago and verizon sold me on their international data package. It took me three days to find someone who could get my phone's data going and even then it was only 2g, so extremely limited. Doubt this is a trend everywhere, just saying that if you're planning a trip you may want to ask what the data is likebefore you buy into the package.

sorry. we'll be lucky to see 4G phones by holiday next year. not comin any time soon. LTE will be mobile broadband only for quite some time. dont get too excited just yet.

it will (hypothetically) be cdma/gsm, but as with the global capable blackberrys, it will be a voda sim card, locked down to only be able to use that sim card (at least from the factory)

4g phones are closer than you think... verizon's 2010-2011 plans have leaked a while ago and 4g phones will definitely be here at the beginning of 2011. I was just saying maybe we would get lucky and verizon could be faster to get 4g phones by the holiday season. This is very unlikely to happen, but who knows.

that leaked roadmap says nothing about phones. people are assuming it means phones, but most of the talk is about mobile broadband. as of right now, there are NO plans to release LTE phones Q1 of next year.

True... but with leaks like this - Verizon's 4G LTE SIM in the wild -- Engadget - which show 4g sim cards in the wild already, and just the fact that by the end of this year Verizon will have 30 markets and 100 million people covered by their 4g network... I'd say that 4g phones are gonna b out early next year, and that's why everyone else thinks so too

  11. we dont have our first 4g phone planned for release until summer of 2011, we plan to have 4g mifi, aircards, tablets, and netbooks by holiday this year as kinda a test to see how our 4G network can handle the stress. hopefully if all goes to plan we will have full 4g rollout phones, mobile web, and media devices by end of 2011 earluy 2012 at the latest.

thank you. i've been trying to tell everyone this, but nobody seems to want to listen. they dont want to believe that just because it's available, doesnt mean there will be phones on the network. it WILL be reserved for mobile broadband devices for quite a while. i may not have a direct line to the CTO, but i'm pretty in-the-know.

Will this mean that I could put a Sim card from a Canadian carrier and use it?

It means it will have GSM bands for the world, aka EDGE. It will not have HSDPA, AWS, or any other varient for 3G speeds other the EVD0. So basically you could get it unlocked and use it with a SIM at EDGE speeds.

Same as the terrible Storm 1/2.

haha really don't this network thing, so its not compatible with HSDPA but if I can get an unlocked version of the phone I could use it the Sim card is that right?

Another thing is HSDPA the same as HSPA? because i've read an atricle that said that it would sport the GSM/HSPA radio
