Root gmail and cyanogenmod

I have a problem with Gmail on HTC Evo Shift 4G running CyanogenMod-7 android version 2.3.7. Gmail will not work, every version I try does the same thing. I click to go into Gmail and it goes back to home screen. It does not force close, no error message, it just doesn't work. I have flashed the gapps before and after installing CyanogenMod. I have wiped everything. If it gave an error message then I would have something to go off of and it would not be a problem. Please someone help.

You need to flash the gapps after the ROM. Try a fresh download of the gapps and reflash. If that still doesn't work, do a FULL wipe, flash the ROM then gapps. Make sure you're using GB gapps and not ics.

Thank you so much. I have been searching for days now trying to get this working. I have even went as far as going to hackers lounge in yahoo chat (no help). Thank you so much.
