I receive a message to my gmail account and after my phone (HTC Magic) syncs with gmail over the cloud, my message is marked as read, so I do not receive any notification. I have watched this happen (live). Basically, a friend sent me a test message, it arrived in gmail (I was watching on my browser) and it was marked unread. After a couple of seconds it become marked as read. Presumably because my android phone had synced itself and marked it as read. This has never happened before. The only main change is that I was low on data usage last month so I turned of the gmail sync and turned it back on last night. I can't see how this could affect the read status of a message. Any thoughts? Thanks!
