Basically, that is it in a nutshell. I have an unusual method to syncing my contacts, and I think that it might be possible that I uncovered a bug in the software, but I'm not sure.

First, I signed into my Google account. This automatically syncs contacts, calendar, and mail. After this initial sync, you can go back to Settings>Accounts&Sync>Google and uncheck all of this if you want. But the initial sync is mandatory because it happens immediately after you sign in for the first time.

So I don't want my Google contacts or calendar to sync with the phone, only the Gmail. I want a clean sync with Outlook only via HTC Sync. So here is how it happens:

    1) Sign into Google and sync
    2) Using "Contact Remover" (free from Market) delete ALL CONTACTS
    3) Go to Settings>Accounts&Sync>Google and uncheck contacts and calendar
    4) Resync with Outlook

Now here is the thing. I have Background Data and Auto-sync both selected on the Accounts&Sync screen. But Gmail still wont refresh. I have to manually refresh it in order to get a notice for a new mail.

Any suggestions? Do you think this is a flaw in the software?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
