I bought the Samsung Galaxy SII in June, and it has been working fine till now. The problem is that on the 14th of August it just stopped syncing with gmail and is refusing to sync manually or otherwise and is not receiving or sending any emails... really confused ...

Lavellep - if I understand what you are asking - are you expecting some kind of instaneous synch from the phone back to the internet account? That's a little ambitious don't you think. It's possible the read status is prioritised down the list for meaning it does not mark the data as 'dirty' as compared to composing new mail etc. If it did update that quickly I think battery would go flat within an hour or 2? Even if you push synch to update the read status back to the internet - do you realise you have to refresh the browser (Win - F5) before it will show up?

Aditya - did you check Settings, Accounts & Synch, Auto-Sync is still switched on?

The social hub mail app isn't updating my gmail today either, but the gmail app is (but I've had issues with the stock gmail app since I bought the phone a month ago, it doesn't pick up all my emails which I still can't fathom out).

I figured there was some issue at the Samsung end in talking to gmail, given the stock app is OK... Maybe it's google..

I'm in the UK, not that it should make any difference?

Same issue here. No gmail updates. Not at all. Even once a day...have to do it manually in the app itself.

Used to it was showing new email notifications every couple of hours.

are you on wifi by any chance? Heard somewhere that gmail push uses specific ports which may need to be opened on some routers.

I'm personally at work in a "H" area of signal, so not using wifi. It hadn't synced over my home wifi before I left for work this morning either.

H or WiFi - doesn't matter. The effect is the same.

It seems I was suffering the same issue this morning, however this afternoon everything seems to be running perfectly. Maybe a google glitch?
