What's the verdict though on scratch resistance if it's just in your pocket the whole day without anything in that pocket? (except maybe a pencil from time to time)
does the case that comes with it work well?

And how about screen protectors that don't protect the soft keys? (I never believed in those...i hate those )

I have had mine a month now and don't use a cover. The phone is carried on its own in a pocket and is scratch free.

i use mine "naked" in its own pocket but i always keep it in the pouch it came with when i move around.

I keep mine in the sock. I order the boxwave anti-glare... big mistake, made the screen look horrid! Got some mcdugen (I think thats right) ones off ebay. They went on fine, got all the bubbles out, and then when I pressed M in the keyboard it would always press space! I'm about $30 in useless protectors now.
I think I'll just stick with the sock.

I wish I could find some affordable skins for the N1, I can't justify $17+ dollars for one.

i'm going to try a clarivue anti-glare screen protector - if for nothing else to see if it improves screen readability in direct sunlight...

anti-glare protector are usually nothing more than a matter sheet of clear plastic... hence looking "foggy"... some may be worse than others... heard the boxwave ones were terrible... that's why i'm going to try clarivue...

Anyway, I've got one on the way from them and also one from Clarivue. I think I'll put the Clarivue one on first and see how that goes. I too have thrown away a Zagg and an Ultimate Screen Guard from Seidio. I'm gonna keep going though till I find something I like. Martin Fields is next! Actually the USG was really nice but I had problems using it with the Innocase II Surface which is also really nice imo.

I was debating this for days. I still am considering buying the Zagg one, but I figured if I DO so happen to get a scratch.. the outer glass is always replaceable right?

I'm assuming I can either send it in for a fee or have some other service change out the glass for me...

anyways i just bought a "smoke" screen protector from google nexus one accessories and i have to say that i am completely unsatisfied. i bought the screen protector solely for the privacy filter ability the site claims it has but its really just a tinted screen protector. not only that but this thing is very scratchable and i even scuffed it up while squeegeeing it with my credit card on application. I would NOT recommend anyone buy any screen protector from nexus one accessories after this experience and im now ordering the amzer privacy protector because they actually have youtube videos of the privacy filter working.

Ah, but you can't put a price on undiluted beautiful screen goodness, and that mmmmm feeling you get from (oily) finger on glass. Ok, maybe you can, but for now I think my phone's safe enough in its pouch whilst in my bag.

Bad luck about your protector purchase, it really sucks that there are so many rubbish products that just lie about what they can do. Still, I'd never buy a privacy protector one... I don't plan on watching porn on the train, and everything else needs to be seen by fellow passengers so they can see the error of their <insert non-Android phone here> way and convert.

Plus, oily fingerprints make for great privacy

i like to buy a bse for the total body coverage and then an additional static cling screen protector for the screen so i dont get that tacky screen feeling when im using it.

The lady speaks sense... besides, the missus has screen protectors on her 5800 any they tend to end up looking toss, the N1 is a much tougher screen and should be safe in the pouch.

I'm using a protector and the screen still looks about as good and is almost as responsive. However, I also got a couple specks of dust under there and they're driving me nuts. I'm probably going to buy a new protects and install it under highly controlled conditions.

I heard someone say they installed theirs in the bathroom with a hot shower running to keep airborne particles down. That sounds good but now I'm wondering about moisture in the air. What are you thinking?

BOBLOBLAW - Umm, I hadn't actually gone to the effort of formalizing the method that I would use. Here's an idea, though -- run the shower for a bit then put on the bathroom fan to suck out most of the steam. Go in there and put the screen protector on before the surfaces can completely dry (and thereby allow the particles to float back up into the air). Dunno, maybe that would work...

Nah, just do it after a shower or something. Open the window to get the moisture out of the air since you won't have a problem with particles since they're being blown away with the moisture anyway or are heavy enough to have fallen to the floor by then. That way you minimise the exposure to moisture but reap the benefits of having a nearly particle free environment. At least that's how I've done it with all my phones so far and it's worked a treat.
