I know the phone itself will prompt me to update my password, so Gmail and Calendar will work, but I'm worried about all of my apps that asked for the password. Will I have to manually update in all of them? That will be really f-ing obnoxious. Like SMS Backup, for example. Or Google Voice? Will I have to manually update my password or will it pull the new password from the phone itself?

Google Voice is associated with Google, as is the entire phone. Anything that is linked to Google's server should update the password by itself. However, it doesn't sound like your SMS backup is a Google services, so I doubt that would. But then again, if it's not a Google service, its password shouldn't change unless you actually changed it too.
