Google Apps Draining Battery/Constant Sync

I just got a google apps account at work and added that email to my phone and now my battery drains fast and Google is the culprit according to battery status.

Also seems like the sync wheel is on all the time at top of screen.

Any suggestions?

well,

1. I never really run the Sync for the calendar unless needed as it slows the calendar down and seems to sync all day long. So, I leave that unchecked. But, If you leave gMail and Contacts to constantly sync, they draw near no battery power. I always have those 2 checked to sync.

2. I use an app called QuietSync to set times - late at night to early am - to shut all sync down to save battery when I don't care to waste any power at all syncing.
