Google Calendar

I am trying to to sync my iOS calendar with the Google calendar app. I have the Google calendar app on my iPad (why? I'm not sure!) and it has synced perfectly well (after a taking a long time to set it up!). However, the iOS calendar isn't syncing on my Moto G phone - which is really where I need the calendar. Having looked online, most advice says that in the Google calendar app, tap the name of the calendar I want to sync with, but the iOS calendar isn't listed and there's no blue "Sync" at the top of the page to tap.

How do I get the iOS calendar listed so I can sync on My Android phone? I am running Android 5.1.
