google contacts problem

hi,
i have a hero and i recomended it to my sister, so on her upgrade she got one.
when i go to add a new contact, i choose contact type and i have google, phone or sim.
but on my sisters it only comes up with phone and sim.
she has set up a google account.
can anyone help?

is the phone logged in to the google account and if you go to settings and data sync is the phone set to sync the contacts with google?
