    Go to - Google

Leave search field blank. Click on "I'm Feeling Lucky"

Edit: Did the math ... just counting down to New Year's.....

By my estimation, it's the number of seconds until midnight, Jan 1. Probably just counting down the end of the year.

Yeah it's a count down till the new year....

OP you could have figured this out with just a Google search you know or you could have done the math.

  6. They've never done this before. Why would they do it this year?

Maybe it was their last year and you just didn't notice unless you did ofcourse "Leave the search field blank & Click on "I'm Feeling Lucky" last year and it wasn't their... ;)
  9. I wasn't trying to suggest anything. It was an invitation to think about it. I doubt Google would simply count down to the new year. I would be surprised if the counter reached 0 and then simply disappeared and nothing happened.

It wasn't there last year, or any year before that.

I'm interested in how this plays out... but not enough to actually maintain a vigil.

Could someone here please do this and report back with the results?

When it reaches 0 they will be giving away 2010 Nexus One phones with free lifetime wireless. Wouldn't that be SWEET! And no this is NOT even a rumor, just the delusional rant of a fevered forum member.

BTW, if you set your system time to Dec 31st just before midnight, it counts down to zero and disappears. Very anti-climactic!

Of course it would. You can't trick it that way. Something will get announced on January 1st (probably an official confirmation of the phone existing), and it will start selling late January.

You're really reaching on this one. If it was maybe Jan 4th at midnight, I might subscribe. But I seriously doubt anybody releases an official announcement on a holiday when pretty much every business is closed and people are busy with parties or hungover from the night before. You usually try to create your own thunder, not compete with a major holiday.

Oh, that's truly what it is, a countdown for the end of the Gergorian Calendar! Beware!!!

Well I didn't watch it last night, but if you click on "I'm Feeling Lucky" today, you get a nice little animation with explosions and all.

Yeah, so much for this being a countdown to an announcement. Occam's Razor. LOL
