I've had a browse around the forum but posts on this issue seem to be 6 or 7 months old and I was wondering if anything has changed. Most posts seem to sugest data consumption of several megabites for journeys of any significant distance. I used Google navigation for a journey of about 1 hour and 20 mins today. Under "battery use details" in the About Phone settings it tells me that google maps was responsible for 5% of my battery use, that GPS was active for 1 hour and 18 mins, but data sent and recieved was only 320KB. Has anything changed in the way google updates its maps or am I misreading the data.

Thanks for that. I thought something must be different. I was also driving a route that I had navigated a couple of times before, so I guess that it had possibly cached the maps as well.
