Support Google Navigation on the Galaxy?

Discussion in 'Android Devices' started by GalaxyMeh, Nov 12, 2009.

  1. Today XDA Developers have released Google Navigation for G1 and MyTouch.

    I installed it on my Galaxy, but it force closes on startup, maybe because the build*prop files are not customized for the Galaxy.

    Has anyone managed to get it running?

    UPDATE: posted the force close log and the /data/anr/trace to XDA developers (I'd post here too but the forum doesn't support attachments)

    WARNING: installing the app bricked the phone part (phone can't get on the network). Not sure if this is because the installation overwrote /system/build.prop and /system/build.trout.prop

    Can anyone please post their Galaxy .prop files?

  2. google navigation is for android 2.0 (eclair); galaxy is still on 1.5 (cupcake)

    it won't be possible to use google navigation on the galaxy until samsung get off their asses and release 2.0, which is some time next spring/summer if we're lucky

    Build.prop from II5

    Its unlikely its due to the build.prop file tho. More likely due to missing libraries and OS support that just isnt in the galaxy 1.5 build.

    It doesn't work I already tried.
    Also I think you need 1.6 for that.

  5. Thanks Kam, that build.prop brought back the phone part.

    You can copy build.props from other phones if you want, but you have to keep this bit:

    #
    # system.prop for capella7200
    #
    rild.libpath=/system/lib/libsec-ril.so
    rild.libargs=-d /dev/ttyS0

    Thats the com port and library to talk to your phone. The rest of the buil.prop stuff doesnt matter much, except to check your phone's model and version.
