Welcome to Android Forums.

If your phone has never been rooted (you would know if it had), then go to menu/settings/privacy/factory reset option.

This will also delete all user info and take it back to a "out of the box" look.
Not to worry. When you open up the PlayStore app you will be asked to sign in to your google account. This will download all your contacts back to your phone.
Before you do a factory reset go to the PlayStore and download AppTyrant. When you first open it up it will automatically download all apps (in their .apk form) to a folder on the sd card. When you have finished the factory reset then all you have to do is download a file manager from the PlayStore, then go to the folder on the sd card and copy/paste all .apk's to the root of the sd card (not in any folder, just in the same directory as all the folders: /sdcard). Tap each .apk to bring up the install option. This is all way faster than trying to track down/download and install all the apps from the PlayStore.
Any pictures are already saved to the sd card.

Note: It would be a good idea to put the contents of the sd card into a folder on your computer, just in case something happens to the the data on the sd card during the factory reset (have not actually heard of it happening, just a precaution).

If none of this worked you might consider rooting it, installing a custom recovery, and installing a custom ROM.
