    Hi everyone,

ever since the Update on 4.4 it seems that the Google Play Music app won't automatically detect new music files added to the SD card (I copy them manually). This used to work up until recently however.
I tried everything from using the update functionality of the app itself, restarting the app, wiping the app's cache and clearing its data. I can access the files with any file explorer just fine, but for the Play Music app to detect them again, I have to restart my phone.
After I reboot the phone, the music shows up as it should, but I wonder why this is necessary now and used to work without any restart before.

I found threads from people with a similar issue, but most of them were from way before 4.4 and none of them provided a solution.

Note: I couldn't find any of the .nomedia files that sometimes cause problems with the music app.

Edit: I just realized this issue appears to affect image files being shown in the Gallery app as well. Seems to be an issue with the media scanner service?!

    Any suggestions?
