thank you for replying. i did what i could but a lot of your advice wasnt applicable to my tablet, i dont know if my android version needs to be updated to get that stuff or if my settings interface is just different, and that link is useless since i have the latest version of the store now but it didnt come preinstalled on my tablet, which i said in my initial post.

also i just checked and it is still crashing whenever i try to download something so nothing i could do that you suggested, helped

You can't just install Google Play as a user app like that, won't work. It must be installed as system, and the tablet has to be rooted to do that. Seems to be a lot of people asking how to do it, but no definitive answers or information.

I believe Proscan devices are made by TCL, which usually means good luck trying to root these things, without bricking and killing them.

This is a really cheapo China tablet, and presumably Proscan(Technicolor) doesn't particularly care about Google and what they put their marque on.

Nope, no other way will work, not for non-Google devices.

Google Play must be installed as root, in /system, that's it. And usually it's baked into the ROM on most devices. Amazon Appstore should work on it though.

That can be a big problem with Android devices here in China, where Google is banned and so no devices have Google services. Usually it doesn't affect anyone else, and most devices intended for export from China have Google Services, such as Huawei or ZTE. Devices have to be certified for GMS (Google Mobile Services).

Here's the situation though, Proscan is a bit of an off-brand really, Technicolor SA , the trademark owner of Proscan, just licenses it out to whatever company wants to use it, and it's often unknown importers of budget devices from China, who don't bother to get them GMS certified, i.e. no Google Services. Devices branded as RCA or Polaroid can be the same as well, where they're just licensed brands on imported devices. Didn't Proscan used to be a brand of TV once, like RCA? And for Polaroid branded Android devices, what was left of the former Polaroid Corporation, PLR IP Holdings LLC denies all responsibility for anything using their marque these days, they're just happy for the $$$.

It's probably got its own app store on there, something like 1Mobile Market or AppChina, which are Chinese, not particularly trustworthy and often have pirated apps loaded with malware.
