Google Talk/SpeechSynthesis won't install.

I've just changed my battery. On restarting it told me that my SD card was corrupt and that I should format it. After testing it in my PC, I formatted it, and put it back in the Desire. It works fine now, but obviously everything was wiped off it.

I get a message that Google Talk authentication failed and Google Nav doesn't have voice guidance, and a message tells me to install text-to-speech from the Market. I click install, and click on SpeechSynthesis Data installer, and it shows 'starting download' - and it stays like that forever. How can I get voice guidance back?

The message keyboard has working voice input.
