[Google] transfer/migrate contacts to SAME phone using new gmail account

Hello All

Here is our situation: My wife has a HTC One. She has her contacts and favorites on that phone through a hodge podge of different ways. SIM, Yahoo Mail, and some Gmail. We recently got married and she changed her last name as well as her default email (gmail) account.
We tried to add her new google account profile and remove her old one but all her contacts, favorites, and calendar appointments were gone.
Are there any walkthroughs on this process. Essentailly we want to trash one google account on her phone and add a new one but we want all the information to remain the same.

Any advice?

Thanks

hi,

you essentially want a new google account associated with your device. this is not going to be device specific since gmail is cloud based, so lets talk about it here in this sub forum and hopefully more eyes can chime in and perhaps help.

what you need to do is (and you seem to have done most of this already)

create a new account ON THE DESKTOP (leave the phone out of this)
merge your contacts into the NEW account USING YOUR DESKTOP (not the phone)
you have sim contacts on the sim card, those need to be copied to your google account

after you have the new account, remove the old google account on your device and sign in with the NEW account.

then your contacts will be available on your device.

here is more (better worded!) info direct the the horses mouth:

and

again these methods are device agnostic so this should work on any device.

visual aids always help: :D
