I read that Google Wallet will be coming out this summer, but from what I read it seems to only work on the Nexus S 4G from Sprint - anyone know if that's true? Do they plan to make it work with ours, or are they just advertising it for the 4G version?

It'll work with the original Nexus S as well (as long as you have a back plate with the NFC chip, which came with it). It should work with any Android phone that features NFC since that functionality will be integrated via API making it universal across all the devices.

You will be able to read the nfc tags but to my knowledge you won't be able to use it to purchase anything in the UK. It I'm wrong please advise.
