Got a new eris with cupcake. Trackball was bad, i was on 2.1v3. Now I think i want root.my question is. Should I root 1.5 or the ota? If I root 1.5 can I use Google nav?

im pretty sure most of the roms out there are based on the 2.1 leak which has nav.

yes, based on the 2.1 leak - but dont misunderstand this dirtmouth - 2.1v3 leak disables root -


get the ota 2.1 then root.....

Will my phone be replaced at the store If have v3 leak and I get only 1 bar ever. I've tried everything but I only get 1 bar displayed, I understand this is just a visual problem though but it's still annoying.

Do i need the android sdk to root phone?...and those root intructions in the sub forum, is that to be done on your phone or on your PC then transfer to phone?.... geeesh.,

Goto the all things root forum here, look for the master root app by eclips3 and jazemelle.

sorry but again, is all that done on the pc then transfered to the phone?. or do i go directly to those links and downloads via the phone? and this is ?Make sure you extract the .zip file to the C:\ drive path then replace the older .exe with the new one.

Prereq's for using the application:

You must have Microsoft .NET version 4. Direct Download Link

Link to download of EMA application. If there are any updates, just re download the whole app, it is small in size.

Then also download the drivers file. Unzip it to your desktop. Follow these instructions on how to install a driver. Select have disc, then navigate to your desktop, inside the corresponding folder, and continue the prompts.

MAKE SURE YOU DELETE THE OLD PB00IMG.zip from your sd card and your computer, get it away from everything! Wouldn't want to accidentally flash that thinking it was the rooted version...I know someone on here did.

If you have the leak installed and want to trade for a refurb call the 800 number and do it that way. Act dumb, and act like you have no technical skills. Ask them to call a local store and put one on hold. It will be traded at the front desk instead of the tech desk with no questions asked.
