GPS doesn't work since update

Now that I've updated to 2.1, most of the apps (weather and time apps) no longer work correctly. I live in Panama City Beach but these apps continue to tell me I am slightly north of Tallahassee -- over 100 miles away and in a different time zone. Stays the same regardless of GPS on or off, I have deleted and re-installed all of the offending programs and that didn't help either. Everything was great prior to the update. Any ideas?

thanks--

A few people have had this problem. The weather widget doesn't really use the gps, it uses the data off the cell towers. Try calling *228 and selecting option 2 to update. If that doesn't help, you may want to try a factory reset or calling VZW. They will probably tell you to reset the phone too, though.

Tired the reset and then the Factory reset. My phone is still saying I am in Tallahassee. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't in a different time zone. Still -- wonder what 2.1 did to cause this?

Same thing here, ubah, except I'm running ver. 2 of the leak (haven't been deemed worthy enough for the OTA yet, I guess). I drove from Gainesville to my hometown of Bonifay (just north of Panama City) and everything worked fine on the drive, but the day after I got here my weather widget now insists I'm in Lake City. When I go into Google Maps, even with GPS enabled, my location defaults to Lake City before correcting itself and centering on Bonifay... Not that that helps the weather widget issue in any way. Dialing *228 didn't help.

If you aren't on a leak you can contact verizon and get a replacement. My 2nd phone (yes 2nd) had a gps problem. I'm in dallas tx and it would always report my weather etc as if I was in Florida, California, and I think one time it thought I was in Alaska. They had no problem switching it out.

I'll just wait until I get the OTA and, if I have the same problem, I'll trade it in for a third Eris (first one had issues with the accelerometer). Anybody know if it's possible to upgrade early to another phone if you've had a ton of issues with the one you currently have?

I've heard stories about people being offered discounts on a new phone, but nothing concrete. I'm also unsure if it has any effect on your contract dates.

I've dealt with Verizon on this issue before getting my current ERIS phone. I was on my 4th replacement, still with the same issue, and finally explained to customer service regarding my frustration. Later that day a rep called back and offered me several deals, eventually offering me a discount price on a phone of any choice.
