GPS Problems with Galaxy S

I live in France. Can anyone help re the GPS problem on my new Galaxy S? It works when I do NOT have my SIM card installed, but not when the sim is in the phone. Does anyone know if Samsung are producing an upgrade that will sort out the problem - and if so when, and will it be free ? Any ideas will be greatfully received as I am most disappointed with my new phone as I am going to Morocco and want to use the GPS and Google maps!!
