I have a very a temperamental GPS link. Sometimes it obtains satellite lock quickly, and other times it just sits on the "Searching for GPS..." message forever.

I'll be on the streets with no obstructions and it still does not lock onto a GPS in a reasonable time. My dedicated Garmin Nuvi will always obtain a lock in about 30 seconds.

Sometimes I try reboot and then GPS does obtain lock, but it would royally suck if I had to do this every time I have a slow GPS link.

Does anyone else experience this? Is there a fix?

Try GPS Status and GPS Test.

Not exactly sure what GPS Status does, but I used it's Toolkit it to clear something in my GPS cache and it started working better.

GPS Test...well, I've always used that to "jump start" my GPS chip. I usually go to my navigation app as soon as the bars start lighting up. Others wait for GPS Test to lock on the satellite(s) before going to the navigation app.

Either way, both apps helped me out when my GPS wasn't working optimally.

Just curious, are all three options checked under GPS settings?
