Was having all kinds of problems with my lapdock 100. Just got off the phone with moto tech support and since they could not fix the issues they will be sending me a 500 series lapdock and don't even have to pay the difference in price!
That was an unexpected pleasent surprise!

did you have to give them any proof of hire for the older one as I have had a lot of problems as well but I was given it as a gift...

I called moto tech support and gave them remote access to my phone and he was able to check that it wasn't a phone issue. Then i connected it to the lapdock and he could see the issues i was having , said he could not fix them remotely. He gave me a reference number and said they will send me a 500 series and gave me a return address to ship back the 100 after i recived the 500 and was satistfied.
