I listen to any and everything but mainly I listen to rock. However, I have a huge appreciation for someone who is a master of there craft. Case in point:
YouTube - CHRIS BOTTI IN BOSTON | "Emmanuel" w/ Lucia Micarelli | PBS

Chris Botti is nothing short of incredible when it comes to the trumpet, and Lucia Micarelli does a... well not to sound weird but I feel a deep emotion listening to her play in this song, it sort of hits me at my core. Anybody else have some examples of musical perfection?

    Great piece!

I couldn't help but laugh sometimes at Lucia because of her facial expressions and body movements. It seemed to be a bit... "overdone, showy, and fake". I'm sure she doesn't do that in practice. It was just very unusual and awkward how she was like walking around on her part of the stage while playing the violin. When I had to say to myself "What is up with her expression?" numerous times... she already lost me. It was way too distracting. Botti on the other hand was wonderful and he wasn't walking around stage.

I used to have a piano instructor who graduated from Jacobs School of Music and she was very anal on movements and facial expression. She's very classical in the way that the famous composers and pianists that we know today did not do what so many people are doing now... swaying like they're about to fall off or expressing so much emotion that you're focusing on his/her expressions and distracting from the piece. It's the music, not the performer, that should be getting the attention. I guess you could call her a purist.

I personally really love Valentina Lisitsa. She knows how to play so many different pieces... especially from my favorite pianist of all time, Chopin.

I think that is just ridiculous... Seems like she is just kinda uptight... Obviously some people go over the edge with it and it is just a show.. But some people just get lost in the music and cant even help themselves nor should they need to. I think its rather refreshing to see someone playing an instrument and getting taken by it.

If you want to hear a master listen to Guthrie Govan play guitar.

kinda off topic here, but i know a couple of tiesto etc. fans who are pretty quick to correct anyone (me, that is) referring to the genre as "techno" instead of trance

Is her craft looking like she has to take a dump while playing the violin?

    really? raise the roof?

    eeeexxxcellent

Nightwish sounds like final fantasy background fight music with a member of the vienna boys choir singing over it.
