Apps Greetings and wear questions

Hi AndroidForums,
Sorry for the possibly misplaced question but I am not sure where it best fits (open to suggestions of course)

Myself and a mate are investigating the possibility of building a device that runs an android wear platform.

First question is what sort of hardware requirements would I need to look at? I assume ARM processor, flash storage, boot rom etc

What I am struggling to get my head around is this... What sort of image would I need to use on the flash drive? Does it need to be a full install of Android or perhaps an image that contains the images that the emulator runs on? or a combination of both.

Sorry for the vagueness of the question but I am trying to get the project off the ground.
