Hi, first post, so please be gentle with me
Righty then, I've got a Galaxy S2 and have had it for a number of months - completely trouble free, great bit of kit. My other half was so impressed by it, she just got herself one, but hers appears to be playing up.
Basically, it seems to have a mind of it's own, programs opening on their own, setting being changed, contact shortcuts being created on the home screen etc. On closer inspection, there is a part of the screen that is 'touching' itself; roughly 2 icons down by 3 icons across (in a 4x4 setting).
It will randomly open programs if there is a shortcut under the part of the screen, or it will long tap and bring up the widget/shortcut menu and will then select shortcut-contact and bring a shortcut of a contact on the screen. Basically extremely frustrating.
It's only started doing this today after 2 days of being fine. So, what we've done so far was backup all data, unmount and format microsd card, factory reset it, perform firmware update via Kies to ICS, but it's still doing it now and again
The phone has got a screen protector on it, and I noticed that there was a tiny bit of dust (hardly noticeable) under the protector right where it keeps touching itself, so I took it off, cleaned the screen and put a new protector on, same thing happens in exactly the same place - no dust this time though.
Now the strange thing is, if I do a *#0*# and do a touch test, nothing happens at all. I had it plugged in and running for 3 hours, and the screen didn't tap itself once. Quit out of the test menu back to the home screen, and almost straight away, it tapped a shortcut and opened up a program.
The phone is on Three UK, and I've heard reports that if faulty, the phone would have to be sent to them to look at, and it could be some time before my partner gets it back. Having already sold her old phone, she is not impressed at the thought of having no phone for a while.
Is there anything anyone can suggest or services that might do something like this, or should we just put this down to it being a lemon and send it to Three to sort out?
Many thanks in advance
