For anyone who wants to connect to their laptop, Android, or any other device that uses an adhoc network, this guide is for you. This can be installed on other Android devices besides esteem.
MAKE SURE WIFI IS OFF BEFORE YOU PROCEED

    Files/apps needed:

A file browsing app with r/w access (root explorer recommended)
This guide will use root explorer.
Terminal Emulator for verification of wpa_supplicant

    1. Open root explorer and go to the system/bin folder and scroll all the way down until you get to wpa_supplicant.

    2. At the top of the screen hit the R/W then long press wpa_supplicant and choose move. Go to the sdcard folder, choose paste and then rename it to wpa_supplicantesteem.

    3. The esteem has v6 of the file but as a just in case, open terminal emulator and type

    wpa_supplicant -v

The result should be 0.6.10 for newer devices older ones give an 0.5.x

    Download wpa_supplicant v6

    Downloadwpa_supplicant v5

    4. After downloading (preferably through your phone), open root explorer, go to the location of the wpa_supplicant you downloaded and copy it to system/bin/ folder. Make sure r/w is set on or it won't copy.

    5. Party

After this reboot your phone/device then turn on wifi and your adhoc network will show up with its name and (adhoc) next to it.

This is to connect your phone to other devices. Please do not talk about tethering the MetroWEB service from the esteem. Thank you, and Happy New Year!

    I have wpa v2. Am I screwed?
What do you mean by "5. Party" ?

    EDIT :
Sorry, I didn't see it was only for LG Esteem.
Still I'd like to know what does "party" mean. I googled it and it's hard to find something else than this :
