This firmware would kill your phone.....not sure why you didn't ask me or someone else for the correct firmware. And yea, factory reset.

Can't you reset via email? I forgot my pin on my connect and that fixed it...

It even asked for my gmail and everything...

I followed this tutorial after I accidentally updated while still rooted. Worked perfectly on the first try. Thanks!

Also checked with benchmarking app: Clocking in at 1512Mhz.

I am stuck on trying to convert the cab file. After I convert I get a file with a white box that is a .kdz file. When I use this file and click launch software update I get:

    [R&D Test Tools Log File]

    20:13:06 : Launching SW update
    20:13:06 : Unpacking KDZ
    20:14:07 : KDZ file extraced
    20:14:08 : Extract file error
    20:14:10 : ===FINISHED===

now I am bricked. I can get the lights on the back, home and menu keys to flash on and off but that's all. I had the phone plugged in and just saw it go blank.

    update:

I got it to boot up. I and going to use the kidz file instead of converting.

    I wish, but nope.
You can pull apart firmware and put it back together though. I've done this for the Optimus v to add a missing dll file

Gentleman, you claim this is simple? Only if by dumb luck you had the right O.S. and a small bit of savvy mate for the tech. In this business, details are everything!!! You must include O.S. and other tidbits. A step by step guide if you will. Us more experienced may be able to figure it out, but that's exactly what it is, figuring it out. Not everybody thinks just like you. When you post something of this nature, assume that you're talking to an absolute newbie and that you're teaching class. Solus O.S., Zorin O.S., Ubuntu 12.04 LTS O.S. No Windows here my friends. I just bought this phone, the LG Motion 4G and thought I found a reliable source as info to root. Too questionable my friend. I def don't know everything, but that was my advice. I learn from the best. However, if you can "mas solidify" this method, I will follow, and donate to your methods I use (when I have the cash ;)) Former samsung intercept owner with custom tweeked cm7 running stock Froyo, then Gingi, then ICS on that crap phone.

So you want me to make this process easier for newbies to follow? Hmmmm, do you want a video or do you want me to just say you must have windows installed? I'm a little confused, sorry.

All guides have room for improvement, but like sammyz said, giving specifics are better than generalities.

As an Ubuntu user, I too wish there were a way to flash the firmware using my pc. Unfortunately, we are relying on LG's software for flashing firmware, and as far as I know there is no other way to flash firmware on the phone. I tried running the LG software in a Microsoft virtualbox, but it was not successful.

For now, if I need to unbrick, I'm forced to borrow a relatives computer. If anyone knows a way to flash the firmware on Linux that info would greatly be appreciated.
