Root [GUIDE] Unbrick/Upgrade Optimus V [EASY] [KDZ]

i have an optimus s which was bricked. Can I used your method to unbrick it?
I used this forum, Unbrick your phone using KDZ, to unbrick it, I am stuck with Error Code 89 and the phone is flashing (on/off) with blank screens. What should I do? Here is end of the log from the previous KDZ run:

*****************************************************************

15:52:05 : CDMA: wParam = 7, lParam = 99
15:52:09 : CDMA: wParam = 7, lParam = 100
15:52:36 : CDMA: wParam = 20, lParam = 110
15:52:36 : Model Dll Msg Not Found(20, 110)
15:52:36 : CDMA: wParam = 8, lParam = 0
15:52:36 : Step : Phone Reset(DLL Cmd)
15:53:01 : CDMA: wParam = 100, lParam = 89
15:53:01 : Step : Upgrade Error2 - Error Code : 89
15:53:01 : ResetStartInfo() Call
15:53:01 : _DetachDLL Call
15:53:01 : _DetachDLL Call End
15:53:01 : FreeLibrary Call
15:53:03 : FreeLibrary Call End
15:53:03 : ResetStartInfo() Call End
15:53:03 : CDMA: wParam = 20, lParam = 0
15:53:03 : Model Dll Msg Not Found(20, 0)
15:53:03 : ===FINISHED===
15:53:17 : OnModelDllMsg(OnMsgFromModelDll-CDMA) delete m_pLGCyonUpdate

*****************************************************************
A dialog box pops pop, said 'wParam = 100, lParam = 89' and my phone started flashing non-stop, nothing else. Please help!!!

On the Device Manager, I saw devices were installed after my phone was connected:
1) Modem -> LGE Android Platform USB Modem
2) Ports (COM & LPT) ->
3) Universal Serial Bus controllers

PLEASE HELP! What did I do wrong????? TIA!

Troubleshooting help for the following situation would be greatly appreciated:
Using: Win 7 (fully updated), LG Optimus V, Sammyz unbrick method

Completed the following steps w/ KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
9. Wait for the error to come up
10. Press OK
11. Unplug phone, pull battery, press power button
12. Click Launch software update
However, I seem to be stuck here.
The software update has been listing "Step Complete: Flash Burning (SDRAM to FLASH)" for what seems like forever now.
Is this to be expected? If not, how can I get out of this loop without undoing what I've done or making it worse?

Looking forward to your help, and thanks for the great work.

BTW, I plan to donate to Sammyz if I can get this phone back working with this tool or the advice I get on this forum.

Thank you for the quick response.

I'm charging now, and probably won't be able to do anything else until tomorrow, but two questions while I'm waiting:
1. Should I be concerned that even when plugged into an outlet the phone is in download mode? Will that affect charging?
2. When you say "start over" do you mean going back to the first run-through, or picking up from where I left off? Does it matter?

Again, much appreciated.

Well, that's really too bad. I have tried everything I can think of to get this phone out of download/emergency mode, and nothing works. I'll see if I can borrow a charged battery from a coworker who owns the Optimus S, but is there anything else that I should try?

FYI, I've tried:
1. pulling battery, replacing, and plugging into both computer and outlet (via charger, of course)
2. pulling battery and attempting to boot into recovery (of course, if I could do that, it wouldn't be "bricked")
3. (futilely) scouring forums for advice

I borrowed a fully charged battery (and checked the charge myself) and retried the entire process. Same thing: hangs on "Step Complete : Flash Burning(SDRAM to FLASH)," which repeats every 2 sec. for as long as I leave it running.

Should I paste and/or send you my log?

What else can I do in the meantime? Is there a workaround?

======

I got a second bricked Optimus V and tried with that as well. No luck here either.
This one boots to the flashing "Android" screen (LG > VM > Android), and went through the entire unbricking process without a hitch, but without any change, either.

Okay I got that but now I don't have any service at all. Any help?

So I tried it again and I am getting really frustrated here. Now no matter how many times I try it only boots to the LG logo and sticks and has no recovery.

I tried the whole thing over and over again to no avail, all I get is a "Upgrade Error: wParam:100 LParam:89

Argh!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried selecting the activate app. It might take several 2-5 tries.
I have tried it 20 times if I have tried it once. No it won't even give me the charge screen or emergency mode just sticks at the LG and that is it This is so frustrating :(

It seems the more I try the slower it is getting too.

Any help is appreciated, I need to get one of the two phones I have messed up fixed somehow.

I think the only way you will be able to unbrick is if you lose 3G permanently. The directions are not anywhere because you lose 3G permanently. I can PM it to you if you want.

You going to pm him the directions to Phatninja55's old guide first? That won't bork the data. Then if that doesn't work, let him do the one over at Android Central that will bork data.

Will that work? I don't think Phatninjas version will work if this doesn't. And the one on AC you are taking about is not what I'm talking about....the one I'm talking about uses VM670 bin while the one you used uses a LS670 bin....the original KP500 thread I made used the VM670 bin.

The log of your second V did what it was supposed to do, try factory resetting that one. The first V seems like you will only be able to fix it by making yourself loose 3G permanently.

Thanks for the reply. I'd been too busy to try anything else, but here's where things stand:

The first phone is stuck in Emergency/DL mode.
The second still won't boot past the flashing Android screen, and won't go into recovery. Attempting to get into recovery yields a blank, black screen.

Your continued help would be enormously appreciated.

I keep getting the same issue as rest of this thread, and I don't understand what your trying to tell them and 2nd thing.. i think you skipped a step after unplug phone, pull battery, push power button... is there a step between that and launch SW update?? I am assuming plug phone back in without battery? if so then no matter which way i try it.. stuck with Loop of "Complete : Flash Burning(SDRAM to FLASH)"

Any help would be appreciated :) and this does work for Optimus V correct?
