In a few ROMs I got such as Warm Z twopointtwo and Elite, they offered a hacked version of SprintHotspot. Basically it was the Sprint Hotspot that was added with the original Stock version of Android that they allowed to run on phones that do not have accounts with the extra $30 addon. I know we have Barnacle and other free Wifi tethering options from the Market to choose from but I liked the Sprint one because it seemed faster and the others didn't seem to have the ability to block certain users like that one did.

So my question is either one of two:
    1. Is there any tutorial to showing how to hack it yourself?
    2. Is there anywhere to download the .apk for this special app to put onto different ROMs?

EDIT: I ask this in the Evo 4G section as I have seen this app on Evo phones' ROMs and no where else.

Cool info. By the way, I think that Wireless Tether (I think that's the one...) has access control options too. But I agree, I especially enjoy the sprint one.

(Plus, using the hacked app is really "sticking" it to them lol)

lol I don't really care for the "sticking" it to them but I like it because of the features I listed.

I know that the Wireless Tether has it but I tried disabling some people from using my connection (I sometimes use it in the school library and each person slows the connection) but people still get on! Even with a password and protection!!

Ahhh! 'Sticking' it to them was a third of my reasoning for rooting lol.
    naahh

Hmm. I don't know about that (acls not working in wireless tether) I'll try mine real quick and post back.

Well, I actually am having a hell of a time getting the wireless tether app to work at all. Errors galore. And now, the built in android hotspot isn't working... rebooting.

Maybe a newer version has messed up that feature?? I don't know. At least there is a working sprint hotspot.

lol see....crap apps hahaha nah, I don't know. I haven't used the app in a while though as I've always had the hacked app. Now I'm on MIUI so I probably won't be needing it anytime soon but it'd be nice to have in case I run into a ROM I like yet can't get the hacked version for.
