Handcent doubling... sent messages??

I've been using Handcent for a few days now, and have found all the threads about people getting two notifications. I'm not having that issue - I've disabled notifications in the stock messaging app.

What's happening, though, is that TWO messages are being SENT when I send a message from Handcent. The GF says she's getting every message twice.

Can't find any mention of this issue when searching.

getting the same thing. up to three messages sent and/or received. doesn't happen all the time maybe 4-5 times a week. yay for unlimited text

I have received (but not sent, that I know of) duplicate messages a few times in the past week. In fact, triplicate and 4X messages as well. Oddly they're typically at the same time of day, first couple messages coming in in the morning.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Yeah, it's odd. It seems to only happen sometimes, but not all the time. I haven't received any duplicates, but the GF says sometimes all my messages will duplicate, and then it goes back to normal.

Given what you guys have said, I think maybe it's something goofy with Verizon. I'm not sure using a different SMS app is the culprit.

Another thought is that it may be due to varying signal strength - perhaps the app tries to send the message and it does get sent, but the accompanying acknowledgment from the network isn't received, and it sends again...?

I might nix Handcent for a few days and see what happens.
