Handcent pop up troubles

I love handcent and don't want to change it. I have a pattern lock screen and I have never has problems with a text popping up while phone is asleep, writing the text and hitting send, and then phone goes back to sleep.
But last few days, I hear the notification sound but I have to unlock to be able to see the text? I tried disabling pop up and enabling it again with no luck.

Any tips or suggestions for me please and thanks?

I dont use the app but can you think of anything else you changed like a new launcher or has the phone had an update or anythin. Anything that would have made the behaviour just change like that?

No.. did not change a thing when this started to happen
